All members of the team do not have to be in transition for the race start, but please do make sure that you are ready in time for the handover for your leg. There is nothing worse than pushing hard for your team mates only to get back and have no-one to handover to!
The handover procedure is simple and always takes place at your racking point. The cyclist needs to be standing by the bike with their helmet off, but can have their shoes on. Once they have been tagged by the swimmer they can then put their helmet on and take their bike. Do not touch the bike until your helmet is securely fastened; You will be stopped by one of the BTF officials. When the cyclist returns they must securely rack the bike before they can tag the runner. Again if the bike falls off the racking or takes out the one next to it you will be told to stop until this is fixed.
Relays can finish together if they would like to and the non-racing members will need to wait for their runner in the Friends and Family area close to the finish chute. Please be aware of other athletes that may be aiming for a time and are trying to finish at the same time.
Once you have finished, all members of the team will be given a medal and t-shirt. If only one of you runs down the finish line you will need to collect these for your team members.
